Satnav & Dashcam

Hi, I took delivery of my J7 on 30/01/26. So far so good!

I have a couple of questions…….

I do not have a mobile phone.

1. I want a dashcam and have watched the video on this forum. It seems easy to install.

I have also seen that in some countries a dashcam is installed as standard.

It seems the car has all the cameras and sensors needed to drive a dashcam and just needs a recording device so I am not sure why its not installed as standard.

It shows a dashcam linked to the built-in screen.

My questions are does this happen with the Aliexpress camera?

Does it happen with the dealer installed camera?

If not is the kit for this available elsewhere?

2. How do I get Satnav on the car?

My old car had the maps built-in and although they were out of date it was OK. Traffic information came through the radio via a Classic FM service. No phone was needed.

Should I put a dedicated SIM in the car, if so, any recommendations?

Should I buy a phone to give me the maps?

I don’t really want or need a phone and contract if I can avoid it. This seems an expensive solution but maybe the best?

Not sure about the dash cam as I bought a separate Nextbase camera that links to my phone.

As for the sat nav. It has navigation built in in the main menu and you can also use CarPlay (well you could if you had a mobile) and get Google/waze/Apple Maps. You don’t need a sim. Think there’s one built in somewhere.

I’ve also noticed this forum isn’t very busy so you might not get many replies which is a shame. Everyone seems to go on Facebook for their questions/queries. But then it’s also full of people on there who don’t have Jaecoo’s slagging them off.
